Apply for this role

Own features across the restaurant dashboard and customer ordering journey, from initial design through a dependable production release.

The job

You will turn everyday restaurant problems into coherent product experiences across the browser, server and database. Your work could include making menu updates simpler, improving order-status visibility or helping an operator understand what happened during a busy service. You will work closely with product, design and customer-facing colleagues to define a useful first version, deliver it safely and learn from its use. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role with responsibility for technical direction within your projects and mentoring less experienced engineers.

What you would be doing

  • Deliver complete features spanning React interfaces, server-side services and PostgreSQL data models.
  • Translate an operational problem into a scoped proposal with clear acceptance criteria and delivery milestones.
  • Build permissions and tenant separation into every restaurant-facing workflow.
  • Review code and help colleagues choose maintainable solutions with proportionate complexity.
  • Add useful tests, telemetry and release controls for the critical paths you change.
  • Investigate production issues and turn recurring failure patterns into product or engineering improvements.
  • Document decisions and coordinate releases with support and account management.

What we are looking for

  • Strong experience delivering production web applications with TypeScript or a comparable typed language.
  • Practical React experience and confidence working with server-side APIs.
  • Ability to design relational data models, transactions and safe schema changes.
  • Experience balancing delivery speed with accessibility, reliability and maintainability.
  • Clear communication and evidence of independently owning work across a product lifecycle.

Useful, but not essential

  • Experience with Next.js, PostgreSQL, Supabase or Drizzle.
  • Familiarity with commerce, hospitality software or multi-tenant products.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical discussions.

Tools you might use

  • TypeScript
  • React
  • Next.js
  • PostgreSQL
  • Supabase
  • Drizzle
  • Git

Your first 90 days

  • Days 1–30Learn the ordering and partner-dashboard flows, shadow a customer conversation and ship a small improvement.
  • Days 31–60Own a scoped feature across the interface, API and database with suitable tests and a release plan.
  • Days 61–90Release the feature, review real usage and share a practical plan for its next iteration.

The practical bits

  • 3 days per week in the Nottingham office and 2 days working remotely within the UK.
  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday. Core collaboration hours are agreed with the team.
  • Occasional planned team or customer visits; approved expenses are reimbursed.

What we offer

  • 30 days of annual leave plus public holidays
  • A company pension contribution
  • A £1,000 annual learning budget for courses, conferences or professional development
  • A company laptop and role-appropriate equipment; engineering roles include a development setup
  • Flexible start and finish times, agreed with your team around customer and collaboration needs
  • Wellbeing support and regular development conversations with your manager
  • Reimbursement of approved business travel and customer-visit expenses
