QA Automation Engineer
Quality Engineering·Mid-level
Protect the journeys that matter most: a correct basket, a successful payment and an order a restaurant can fulfil.
The job
You will help the team find meaningful problems early and release with clearer evidence. Your work combines automated checks, exploratory testing and risk-based thinking across customer storefronts and partner tools. You will collaborate closely with engineers to make tests reliable and diagnose failures quickly, while ensuring that a passing test suite reflects realistic user behaviour. The role values judgement about what to test as much as the ability to automate it.
What you would be doing
- Create browser and API tests for ordering, payment status and restaurant operations.
- Design reusable test data that keeps restaurant accounts and scenarios isolated.
- Investigate flaky tests and improve the speed and clarity of test feedback.
- Explore edge cases involving modifiers, discounts, time slots and interrupted requests.
- Assess accessibility and mobile usability as part of feature acceptance.
- Document reproducible defects with evidence, impact and clear expected behaviour.
- Help product teams define acceptance criteria and identify appropriate release checks.
What we are looking for
- Experience writing maintainable automated tests for web applications.
- Confidence in TypeScript, JavaScript or another test-automation language.
- Understanding of HTTP, APIs, browser behaviour and relational test data.
- Ability to prioritise tests around user impact and likely failure modes.
- Clear defect reporting and constructive collaboration with engineers and product colleagues.
Useful, but not essential
- Experience with Playwright and API contract testing.
- Familiarity with payment-provider sandboxes or commerce workflows.
- Experience introducing accessibility checks or improving test-suite reliability.
Tools you might use
- Playwright
- TypeScript
- API testing tools
- SQL
- CI pipelines
- Browser developer tools
