Frontend Engineer
Customer Experience·Mid-level
Create fast, accessible ordering experiences that work smoothly on a customer’s phone and a restaurant’s dashboard.
The job
You will help customers move from browsing a menu to placing an order with confidence. That means handling complicated options clearly, communicating price changes and making loading, empty and error states feel considered. You will also contribute reusable components for partner tools. Working with design and backend engineers, you will take responsibility for interaction quality, accessibility and performance across real devices, including slower phones and unreliable connections.
What you would be doing
- Build responsive menu, basket, checkout and order-tracking interfaces.
- Implement accessible keyboard navigation, focus management, forms and error messages.
- Create reusable components and document their behaviour within the shared design system.
- Manage asynchronous data, stale state and recovery from interrupted requests.
- Measure page performance and reduce unnecessary rendering, downloads and layout shifts.
- Write meaningful component and browser tests for important user journeys.
- Review designs with product and engineering colleagues before and after implementation.
What we are looking for
- Practical experience building production interfaces with React and TypeScript.
- Strong HTML and CSS skills, including responsive layouts.
- Understanding of web accessibility and the ability to evaluate common interaction patterns.
- Experience consuming APIs and representing loading, success and failure states.
- An eye for spacing, hierarchy and the details that make an interface easy to use.
Useful, but not essential
- Experience with Next.js and Tailwind CSS.
- Familiarity with Playwright or component-testing tools.
- Experience with transactional journeys such as checkout, bookings or account onboarding.
Tools you might use
- React
- TypeScript
- Next.js
- Tailwind CSS
- Playwright
- Browser developer tools
